2 Timothy 3:13-14 "But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will go on deceiving others and they themselves will be deceived. But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you." NLT
This verse was a charge from Paul to Timothy to not be deceived by those who are trying to deceived people. While it was a charge to Timothy, it is very applicable to us today. Let's think about...are there people today who are trying to deceive others? Um, yes! Do we need to remain faithful to the things we have been taught? Again, yes! Many in the world is doing everything they can to disprove Christianity and even to disprove God. Richard Dawkins, the champion of all atheists, has recently said that it is possible that the human race was placed here by aliens! When one leaves the truth, it is amazing what can be believed!
So I urge you Christians, to stand up against the deception that is in the world today and to remember the truth.
This verse doesn't end there, it also says that you will know it is true because of who taught you. Well, Paul was referring to Timothy's Grandmother and mother, who taught him the scriptures when he was younger. Paul knew that Timothy could trust his grandma and mom, so he told him, consider who has taught you the truth. I want to challenge you to the same thing. Who has taught you the truth? Do these people love you? Are they trustworthy? I know in my life the people that I love the most have been people who have taught me the truth. If you cannot say this then I encourage you to look at your pastor or some Godly friends for one who can lovingly teach you the truth, because every Christian needs encouragement from someone.
So who are you going to follow, the deceivers or those who love you?
